Better Living Now, Inc. provides expanded multi-lingual toll-free customer service at 1-800-854-5729, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST and Saturday 9:00AM - 2:00PM EST.

The BLN customer service department is designed to answer all customer inquires regarding any aspect of the program. All calls are handled as a priority.

BLN assists the patient in managing their condition by providing them with comprehensive educational materials (Pamphlets, Video's, etc, please see samples enclosed) and information, which will also serve to increase the patient's awareness and participation in more cost effective therapies.

BLN works closely with Case Managers, assigned primary care givers, ET Nurses, Doctors, and administrative staff to ensure formulary product selection and use is in the best interest of the patient and the Plan. Our administrative staff collaborates with the Plans staff toward lowering and managing costs.

BLN carries a comprehensive line of diabetes self-testing supplies including blood glucose monitors, test strips, lancets and insulin pumps and supplies. BLN also carries products for the visually impaired diabetes patient and those who need help with impotence. As skin integrity and breakdown prevention are important aspects of diabetes management, BLN carries a full line of skin care products as well as compression stockings. In addition, we stock advanced wound care dressings specifically designed for diabetes related skin ulcerations.

Better Living Now, Inc. Ostomy Supply and Support Program
BLN has partnered with ConvaTec, the leading maker of Ostomy products in the world to provide the highest quality ostomy care products and professional support to better manage your ostomy population. Better Living Now's Ostomy Program provides for immediate supplies of necessary material(s) from our distribution facility in Hauppauge, LI, NY. Patients receive a ninety (90) day supply of product at one time to ensure a continuous supply of product.

Issue
There are just too many SKU's encompassing Ostomy and Urological products that local DME Providers cannot inventory, supply and service this product segment effectively. Secondly, as it represents such a small percentage of their overall sales they cannot commit the resources necessary. Better Living Now carries an extensive inventory of products and has all necessary resources in place to effectively service Ostomy patients.

Upon Discharge from Hospital
Each new ostomy patient will receive a customized patient discharge kit. This kit will be shipped directly to the patient's home upon discharge. Each discharge kit will consist of:

1. One box of pouches
2. One box of wafers, including a stoma measuring guide
3. Allkare barrier wipes
4. Stomahesive paste
5. Scissors to cut wafers to appropriate size
6. Instructional video
7. Carrying case

Patient Support
ConvaTec, serving as Better Living Now's preferred manufacturer, offers patient support and counseling through their Professional Services Department. This department is made up of a full-time staff of fully-trained professionals, including registered nurses. They are available at 800-422-8811 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. EST. The Professional Services team provides clinical and product information and support services for healthcare professionals as well as patients.

Patient Follow-up
During the second week at home the patient will receive a call from the ConvaTec Professional Services Department to ask "How are you doing and Can we help?"

With each re-order the patient will be asked if they are having any problem with their Ostomy. The BLN Care Coordinator will address these issues and if necessary they will be referred to the ConvaTec Professional Services Department. This follow-up will ensure that all eligible patients are being followed up on every three (3) months. All responses will be documented and reported to the health plan and\or the PCP.

Educational Material
The patient will also receive appropriate educational pamphlets. These pamphlets/videos are available in English and Spanish. With these pamphlets/videos the patient will also receive a laminated card which provides step by step instructions for removing and applying their appliance.

Value-Added Patient Programs
Each new patient will be enrolled in the Better Together Club. The Better Together Club is a national organization organized by ConvaTec. The club's goal is to provide inspirational support, information on the latest ostomy-care products and techniques, plus gives the patient an opportunity to interact with others in similar circumstances. At no charge to the patient or health plan the members of this club will receive a quarterly newsletter.

Each patient will become eligible for the Great Comebacks Program. ConvaTec and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, Inc. (CCFA), created the Great Comebacks Program to honor people who have successfully overcome the difficulties of living with an ostomy or inflammatory bowel disease. Each year one winner is selected.

Professional Services
Finally, to support your Healthcare professionals we will make available to each a "Professional Guide to Counseling Ostomy Patients", which is a teaching guide describing pouching systems, medication information and dietary recommendations. The PCP's will also receive the very comprehensive "Presentation Sourcebook for Ostomy Education." This Sourcebook offers tools for professionals to train their staff, patients and family members in the management and care of an ostomy.

BLN will also provide adequate supplies of Patient Education Material for your healthcare professionals. This material can be used in the office or as handouts to patients.
