This product family has been a long time performer in the Hollister portfolio and is still a good choice for select situations. Karaya 5 is a natural skin barrier that makes it particularly well suited for people who have sensitivities to synthetic skin barriers. It is only mildly adhesive so all Karaya 5 pouches also include a border of tape. Karaya pouches are pre-sized with a round skin barrier stoma opening that opens from the bottom to empty the contents. A drainable pouch requires some type of clamp on the bottom to keep it closed. A person with a colostomy or ileostomy (NOT a urostomy) would use this type of pouch.
